Are You a Future Military Pilot?

Our skills assessment day will test your suitability and readiness

Do you want to know if you have what it takes to be a future military pilot?

If you’re thinking about a career as a military pilot, then you’ve come to the right place! Flight School Wingman was founded by a military fast-jet pilot. Our trainers are all former military front-line pilots and officers, with experience across rotary, multi-engine and fast-jet operations.

We all remember what it was like having that dream to strap on a military aircraft and go flying in defence of our country. That’s why we created our Military Pilot Skills Assessments – to help you realise that dream . Our Skills Assessments will give you invaluable exposure to areas that are a major pre-requisite to becoming a military pilot. They’re also a whole bunch of fun! Read on to learn more…

Military Pilot Skills Assessment Group Courses £299.99

Join one of our group days and join others in an action packed day mirroring a real military pilot assessment that you might undertake at the OASC, AIB or AOSB. You will be put through your paces in a testing, but fun environment and have the opportunity to ask questions of a real military pilot Wingman!

Over the 4 hour course, your Wingman will put you though your paces with the following practical phases:

Pre-course Aptitude Testing

You will have the opportunity to take part in some aptitude testing that assesses all of the areas commonly assessed in a military pilot selection process: Hand-to-Eye Coordination, Memory Recall,
Reaction Time, Spatial Awareness, Selective Attention, Mental Arithmetic and more…Your report will be made available to you, so that you can see how you scored!

Group Discussion Exercise

Together, you will be presented with several short topics to discuss and debate, enhancing your communication skills.

Group Planning Exercise

Together with your team mates, you will be tasked with solving a fictitious exercise that will test your effective intelligence and communication skills to the limit! Oh, and some time/distance/speed maths too!

Leadership and Leaderless Exercises

You will all have the opportunity to put your leadership and management skills to the test in a set of fun, classroom based leadership tasks, designed to replicate the same skills required in the real selection board “hangar exercises”.

Interview

The interview forms part of the initial AFCO filtering and the full selection board process. It’s your one opportunity to evidence your motivation to join the service as both an officer and a pilot, and to let the selection board staff know a little more about you. We will help you increase your confidence for both stages.

Post Course Report

You will be provided with a written report on your performance and suggested areas for improvement within 7 days of your Skills Assessment course.

Every Military Pilot Skills Assessment Course attendee will receive debriefs throughout the day, plus a detailed post course report will include the following:

  • A colour coded “traffic light” style scoring of you performance in each area of the day.
  • Your strength in the major pilot and officer competencies required for success.
  • Detailed overall areas of strength, as well as areas for improvement for the future.

All of the Wingmen used to assess you during your Skills Assessment are former front-line military pilots. They have operated everything from rotary, to multi-engine and fast-jets, from both land and sea!

Your Wingman will give you ample time to ask any questions that you have around becoming a military pilot: the training, what life on the front-line is like and even just on general military life!

All clients that choose to attend our Military Pilot Skills Assessment Days will receive a free copy of our eBook. It’s packed full of training techniques and practical examples that will form an essential part of your training with us and doubles as an essential refresher ahead of a real selection board process.*

*£39.99 non-refundable if you subsequently cancel or curtail your training.

What is the minimum recommended age to undertake the Military Pilot Skills Assessment?

Although we don’t place any minimum age requirement on attending the Skills Assessment, we recommend that you only attend if you are at, or approaching the minimum age to apply to join the Armed Forces as a military pilot. Your local Armed Forces Careers Office (AFCO) will be able to confirm this for you.

Will the result of this assessment be passed on to the military?

No. Your results and performance on the Military Pilot Skills Assessment Course are not passed on to any third parties. I'm nervous about attending the course - should I be?

Absolutely not. Flight School Wingman remembers exactly what it was like to be in your shoes! We have all been through a similar process and are there to support and guide you in the usual friendly Wingman way! 🙂
